Ferré himself curated the interiors through a rigorous architectural approach that, for its time, introduced a remarkably forward-thinking vision, placing great emphasis on interior design.
The transition of the villa to a new ownership revealed how time had gradually altered certain spaces, rendering them less functional and no longer aligned with contemporary living.
The new owners, a young entrepreneurial family, wished for an easy-living atmosphere enriched with refined and sophisticated details.
PELIZZARI STUDIO responded with a project that reinterpreted the original floor plans, reshaping the spaces across the villa’s three levels according to new living dynamics, while preserving selected original elements to maintain the property’s authentic spirit.
The result is a fascinating journey that, while retaining certain original layouts, enhances the villa’s distinctive character through a masterful synthesis of retro influences and contemporary design.
Brilliant interventions transform architectural features and walls into immersive scenographic settings, with a meticulous research into materials and an aesthetic capable of engaging in dialogue with the past without renouncing the functionality of the present. The furnishings, largely tailor-made, blend seamlessly with iconic pre-existing pieces: the antique marble fireplace, flanked by a pair of Biedermeier cabinets originally selected by Ferré, is enhanced by vivid red paintings evoking Oriental jewels; the historic pendant lamps by Adolf Loos illuminate the dining table designed by Pelizzari Studio, featuring a cream back-lacquered glass top, creating an unexpectedly balanced composition.
The selected materials narrate a sensorial story built upon refined contrasts and subtle harmonies. The warmth of wood encounters the textured presence of the original stone flooring, while black lacquered metals and brass finishes introduce a sophisticated twist of elegance and character. Throughout the residence, the colour palette unfolds in shades of grey and sand, punctuated by a rare aqua tone that perfectly mirrors the colour of the lake below.
The design language evolves through a redevelopment process lasting over a year, encompassing significant technical, landscape and scenographic interventions.
Every choice was guided by a deep respect for the original project, while allowing the introduction of new design codes.
The new layouts gave rise to seductive details, unexpected cuts of light and surfaces featuring surprising solutions.
The generous dimensions of the villa allowed for the creation of several private areas, including master and guest suites complete with dedicated lounge areas and spacious dressing rooms, wellness and relaxation spaces, family rooms and expansive terraces projecting towards the water and surrounded by mountains.
A particularly important aspect of the project was the careful design of a home theatre and entertainment area, centred around a large ice-velvet sectional sofa placed upon a raised platform to ensure optimal views and intimacy, complemented by an aqua-toned chaise longue and a large eucalyptus wood coffee table. The final touch came with the introduction of a pair of recessed cabinets featuring acid-etched brass profiles and Alcantara back panels, framing the large billiard table.
At the conclusion of the works, the renewed spaces appear flooded with light, enhanced by the lighting design and by the natural light reflecting from the lake, defining the furnishings in a continuous dialogue between nature and soul.
